A Message From Our President

At S.M. Lawrence Company, we have five Core Values that directly align with those of our parent company, Comfort Systems USA, and that drive every aspect of our business. These five are: Be Safe, Be Honest, Be Respectful, Be Innovative, and Be Collaborative.

Be Safe

It is no accident that Safety starts this list. Our employees are our greatest asset, and sending them home healthy and whole each and every day supersedes all other company functions and goals. We see our team members as a family; a group of talented trade and administrative professionals, whose life and trade experience cannot be replaced, and as such are precious resources that must be protected at all costs. We commit to our teams that we will search out and provide the best training and equipment for our industry. While we take great pride in our craft, management lives by the standard that no job or task is worthy of allowing harm to fall on anyone.

Be Honest

Throughout history, complex jobs and tasks were achieved based on little more than a person’s word and a handshake, representing a firm and unwavering commitment between parties to achieve something together. While the complexity of modern times has necessitated the need for more formal legal processes, the core principle of having unfailing integrity is something that we hold as non-negotiable in every endeavor we pursue. Our clients look to us to build and maintain the facilities that house their clients, colleagues, and potentially even family or friends. This trust placed in our team is something that we strive to honor in every action that we take, by being honest in everything we do.

Be Respectful

A wise Proverb states that “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” In every human interaction we encounter in life, there are generally multiple stakeholders; each with differing and sometimes conflicting needs and goals, and each with differing technical, trade, management, or even cultural backgrounds driving their approach to problem solving. The resulting process of negotiating the best possible overall outcome hinges on maintaining the utmost respect for all parties, both in tone and in action. It is this standard that our team members strive to live up to in all of our interactions, with both internal team members and with external clients.

Be Innovative

US Navy Admiral Grace Hopper once said, “The most dangerous phrase in the English language is ‘we have always done it that way.” Our goal is to furnish our clients with not only a solution to their needs, but with the best solution. The pursuit of higher efficiency and longer-lasting, more environmentally conscious solutions is driving rapid changes across almost every industry, including mechanical systems. This can make it difficult for clients to determine the best solution for their particular needs. We strive to stay current with changes in our industry so that we can accurately and effectively advise our clients on the best course to take.

Be Collaborative

In the same way that Safety starting the list was no accident, Collaboration ending the list is not one either. ‘Working Together’ is the perfect summation of the process we and our clients seek to enter into each day. This collaborative effort is reliant on each of the previous core values to effectively take place. Each relationship relies on a fundamental belief in protecting the well-being and safety of each other, through honest and respectful dialogue around the challenge at hand, to find the best solution possible together.
